Services
Architecture
Curtis & Windham offers comprehensive architectural services, from feasibility studies, master-planning and design, to construction administration. Whether a project includes architecture, landscape architecture, interiors, or spans aspects of all three, our involvement at every stage ensures high quality execution.
Several completed residences of institutional scale have led to recent institutional commissions – for the St. John’s School Campus Center Expansion and renovations to St. Marks Church, both in Houston, a sorority house for the University of Arkansas campus, and additions to the Church of the Heavenly Rest of Abilene. We continue to embrace residential projects of all sizes and types, from renovations and smaller homes to country estates.
Landscape Architecture
Recognizing the potential to integrate elements of both site and building to create a greater experience led us to establish our Landscape Architecture Studio in 2005.
A series of gardens and landscapes soon followed in a variety of scales and contexts, from intimate courtyard gardens in a semi-urban settings like that at the South Boulevard Residence to a large undertaking at Longwood Farm, where entire park-like vistas were created in the landscape.
The landscape and architecture studios work closely together and offer the same comprehensive design services. Our landscapes have received the recognition of several John Staub Awards and have been featured in the National Garden Conservancy Open Days Tours, the River Oaks Garden Club Azalea Trail tour, and in AIA Garden Architecture, a juried exhibition at the AIA Houston.
Interior Design
Our Interior Design Studio was established shortly after the practice itself was founded. Opportunities to capitalize on the interior architectural components we were already designing extend a comprehensive design vision to finishes, lighting, fabrics, and custom designed furniture. A shingle style house on the Eastern Seaboard and a rustic log ranch in Montana were two of our earliest interiors projects. These two disparate styles and locations established our ability to make functional and comfortable interiors that anticipate a contemporary lifestyle with respect to established design principles.
Since then, the Interior Design Studio, led by Marion Evans, has contributed to every architectural project at Curtis & Windham. Residential work in Santa Fe, the Bahamas, Florida, and Texas include country properties, beach homes, and urban residences in a variety of styles. Commercial and institutional work include The Houston Country Club Pro Shop and a variety of corporate office spaces. Comprehensive interior design services are offered in concert with architectural and landscape design.
