Through the transformation of an existing garage, a pair of distinct spaces were created to house the owner’s two passions: good wine and vintage cars. The existing two-car garage of the townhome was divided in half: one side devoted to a beloved 1949-MG-TC sports car, and the other to a new wine room. The wine room, adjacent to the dining room inside the house and accessed through a small decanting room, is capable of storing almost 3,000 bottles in oak storage cabinets that line the walls. With a temperature and humidity controlled environment, limestone flooring, and vaulted plaster ceiling, the room feels like a true wine cellar. The garage portion, with bluestone flooring and wainscoting, beams and cabinets of natural oak, has been transformed to feel decidedly more elegant than the pre-existing space, providing a historically accurate environment for the vintage vehicle.
